Department of Design Spring Exhibition

The Spring Exhibition is the culmination of the students' design experience at Ohio State. Every year the Department of Design hosts an exhibition featuring the senior theses of the undergraduates from each of the three programs: Industrial Design, Interior Design and Visual Communication Design. The exhibition will also include projects from select MFA students from the design research and development, and digital animation and interactive media concentrations.

The exhibition will be on display Tuesday, March 31 to Saturday, April 11 at Urban Arts Space, 50 W. Town St. There will be a reception Wednesday, April 1, 6-8 p.m. Urban Arts Space gallery hours are Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free.

Dozens of students will be featured in the exhibition. For example, Jordan Green, industrial design, has a project called "Propel" which is a below the knee swimming prosthetic designed for adaptive needs that empowers amputees in the water. Heather Schrand, interior design, has a project called "Oasis Market", a holistic community hub for residents in Franklinton, Ohio, featuring a healthy food market focusing on locally grown produce and an educational community kitchen. Khanh Tran, visual communication design, created a project called "Thrive", a system that helps drivers locate available parking more efficiently through the use of an augmented reality, heads-up, in-car display.
