Mark Cooper is the Vice President for Advancement and External Relations at Ohio Dominican University. With 26 years of experience in higher education marketing and communications, Cooper provides strategic oversight for all of the university’s fundraising, alumni relations, marketing and communications initiatives. He has served as the chief marketing officer at two other Central Ohio universities: Ohio Wesleyan and Capital University. During his tenure at Ohio Wesleyan, Cooper’s staff received two “Circle of Excellence Awards” from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, the highest honor awarded by the international organization. Prior to his career in higher education, Cooper was a TV sports reporter and anchor for 14 years in five markets, including Youngstown, Ohio; Albany, Syracuse, and Buffalo, NY; and at Channel 6 in Columbus. Cooper earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from The Ohio State University in 1979. During his time aa a student at Ohio State, he was an on-air host and sports director for Campus Radio WOSR, and worked as a recording engineer in the School of Journalism’s radio lab. He was a member of the famed Ohio State University Marching Band, and had the honor of “dotting the i” in Script Ohio during halftime of the 1979 Homecoming game. Cooper was honored by the Ohio State Alumni Association in 1987 with the William Oxley Thompson Award for career achievements by alumni under the age of 35. He remains active in the TBDBITL Alumni Band, and through his work over more than two decades as a member of the Alumni Band Golf Classic committee, helped to raise more than $100,000 for the OSUMB.
