Some pipeline into full-time employment; all broaden skills and increase self-awareness. Internship Week kicks off with a presentation by Derek DuPont, a 2014 Arts and Sciences graduate who leveraged his internships to position himself for a career that integrates two of his passions: social media and music. Derek will offer career advice from 2:30-3:00 p.m. Before his presentation, from 2-2:30 p.m., you can enter to win one of two $250 Amazon gift cards. These gift cards can be used to purchase items to maximize your success in the workplaces, such as technology, attire, portfolios, briefcases and more. The prize winners will be announced shortly after 3:00 p.m. (must be present to win). About Derek: From multi-channel marketing strategy to creative direction to producing pop-up concert activations and large-scale music festivals, Derek thrives in creating unique opportunities that connect community with culture. After co-founding the largest songwriters association in the mid-west, the Columbus Songwriters Association (501c3) he went on to create marketing and events studio, The Wild Path in partnership with his wife, Tessa. Simultaneously he has spent nearly 4 years at the Ohio State University, where his leadership has launched him into positions in which he supports the University’s overall social media strategy, directs campaigns and consults with departments and colleges across campus. When not working, Derek can be found traveling far and wide with Tessa seeking out warm weather, speakeasies and fantastic food.
