NoBody There
Time: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Event Host: Urban Arts Space
Short Description: NoBody There is an interactive theatrical installation that explores intimate encounters with strangers — how impossible they are right now and how beautiful they will be to recover on the other side of this pandemic.
NoBody There is an interactive theatrical installation that explores intimate encounters with strangers — how impossible they are right now and how beautiful they will be to recover on the other side of this pandemic.
An empty park bench sits alone in space. As guests sit on the bench, a disembodied voice is heard, as if someone were sitting right there next to them. While the guest is seated, they hear several randomized texts written by Tom Dugdale, assistant professor in the Department of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts. In conceptualizing, writing, programming and sound designing this piece, Dugdale undertakes a performance that asserts itself through absence rather than the bold corporeality that defines most solo performance.
