Karen Hutzel Wins National Award

Karen Hutzel, associate professor, Arts Administration, Education and Policy, is being honored with the Mary J. Rouse Award from the National Art Education Association (NAEA) Women's Caucus. The Rouse award is given annually to recognize the contributions of an early professional who has shown potential to make significant contributions in the art education profession. Hutzel will be presented with the award at the 2013 NAEA conference in Fort Worth, Texas.

Hutzel said, "I suppose the most exciting thing about receiving this particular award is to be included in a community of women that I truly admire. When I look at the list of past recipients, they all have continued to make significant contributions to our field and most have become leaders in art education as well. In some ways, I take it as a challenge to meet the expectations of impact the award recognizes now and in the future."
