CJRC/OPEEP

The Criminal Justice Research Center (CJRC) has participated in a few collaborative projects called Brown Bag Lunches that focus on interdisciplinary research and collaboration between the Columbus community and Ohio State Faculty. Recently the CJRC hosted leaders from the Columbus Office of Violence Prevention [Director Rena Shak and Molly Robbins, Assistant Director for Office of Violence Reduction] to speak to Faculty. Other activities and projects include teaching a Corrections course through the Ohio Prison Education Exchange Project (OPEEP) which is taught inside London Correctional facility and brings Ohio State students together with incarcerated students throughout the semester. One upcoming community project on the horizon is teaching a weeklong professional development course through the Alvis workforce development program EDGE (Empower Development by Gaining Employment) Program. This five-month program is designed to help individuals involvement in the criminal justice system overcome barriers to skilled employment opportunities.
