Short Description: This talk provides conceptual and applied examples of how (medical) geographers can apply intersectional analyses to shed light on health and healthcare inequities.

This talk provides conceptual and applied examples of how (medical) geographers can apply intersectional analyses to shed light on health and healthcare inequities. Pairing social theory with spatial analysis, we can provide a more comprehensive story of the factors underlying persistent racial, ethnic, and class inequities. Beginning with conceptual definitions, I will share examples from my own work on health and healthcare (in)equity in the U.S., with emphasis on time scarcity in the context of unequal spatial access to key resources. These examples include commute times, access to healthcare, and access to healthful foods.
