The Asian Futures Initiative is hosting Erin Collins (Geography, Dartmouth College) on February 10, 3:30-5 p.m. in 198 Hagerty Hall.
Collins will critique Cambodian state representations of Phnom Penh’s urban poor communities as anarchistic, arguing that they are anachronistic. Utilizing archival and oral historical research, she analyzes features of state land reforms, whereby the ruling party breaks from the past and invites urban populations to apply for property claims while consolidating regime authority.
