Join arts and sciences alumna and author, Jessica A. Johnson (MA, journalism, 1994; PhD, education, 1998) and Dr. Wilburn H. Weddington, Sr., for a conversation about Johnson’s new book, Salt of the Earth Georgia Boy (Tate Publishing, 2013), a fascinating look at the life of Weddington, the son of a sharecropper from Hiram, Georgia who went on to become professor of clinical family medicine at Ohio State (now, professor emeritus).

Johnson is an opinion columnist for The Athens Banner-Herald (Georgia) and a special correspondent for The Columbus Dispatch.

Weddington was mentored by late great leaders in education and medicine, including Morehouse President Dr. Benjamin E. Mays and Drs. Charles R. Drew and William Montague Cobb at Howard University. This evening with Johnson and Weddington will feature an active discussion and a question and answer session with members of the audience.

Johnson was selected recipient of the 2013 Excellence Award in Research from Central State’s College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences in recognition of her book.

The event is free and open to all. Please RSVP.
