The School of Music and the College of Arts and Sciences Center for Career and Professional Success are hosting Life Beyond Degree: School of Music, a two-part series planned exclusively for students in the School of Music.

Join us Thursday, April 18 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm for Life Beyond Degree School of Music, Part 2: Mix and Mingle with School of Music Alumni. This is your opportunity to connect with alumni during a casual yet professional speed networking session. You will have the chance to chat with multiple alumni who can share more about job preparation and discuss how they transformed their degrees into a variety of career paths. Come prepared to enjoy some light refreshments and beverages while engaging with some fantastic alumni! Alumni guests include:

  • Travis Damicone, BME, BM (2006) – Beginning Strings and Band Director in Columbus City Schools, Freelance French Hornist
  • Kevin Dengel, BME (2007) – Orchestra Director in Gahanna Jefferson Public Schools, President of Gahanna Area Arts Council
  • Katie Kuvin, BME, BM (2012), MM (2014) – Assistant Director of Development in OSU College of Engineering, Freelance Flutist
  • Audrey Rice, BME (2016) – Elementary General Music in Canal Winchester Local Schools
  • Kevin Wallick, BME (2010) – Orchestra & Band Director in Dublin City Schools
  • Jacob Reed, BME (2004), MM (2006) – Choir Director in Worthington City Schools, Composer and Jazz Musician
  • Kerry Haberkern, BM (2004), DMA (2014) - Managing Director of the Columbus Children's Choir, Bassoon Instructor at Otterbein University

The format of this event will be as follows:

  • 6:00 pm - Start-time
  • 6:00 - 6:30 pm - Alumni panel for introductions, general questions
  • 6:30 - 7:30 pm - Five 10 minute speed networking rotations (+ transition time wiggle room). Each alumni will be stationed at a table. You will be able to move from alumni to alumni, asking them anything you are curious to learn more about. We'll also offer typical networking type ice-breaker questions at each table - so don't worry about not having anything to ask!

This event is open to all Arts and Sciences Students and will be particularly beneficial to those in these Career Communities:
