Penny Von Eschen, professor, history, University of Michigan, lectures on "Rebooting the Cold War: Cultural Narratives of Triumphalism and Nostalgia". Her talk will examine how a conservative narrative about the Cold War was consolidated in the 1999-2000 George W. Bush campaign, and how this account of the Cold War shaped American responses to the 9/11 terror attacks.
