From 12:30-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, join the Department of Mathematics at the African American and African Studies Community Extension Center (905 Mount Vernon Ave.) for an International Day of Mathematics Celebration on Columbus's Near Eastside.

Explore the beauty and richness of mathematics through games, puzzles, crafts and fun activities for people of all ages. This event is free and open to the public; everyone is welcome to attend! Stay for as little or as long as you like.


On Nov. 26, 2019, UNESCO proclaimed March 14 as the International Day of Mathematics (IDM). March 14 was already known as Pi Day and celebrated in many countries around the world. It is named after the important number π, the ratio between the circumference and diameter of a circle and approximately 3.14.

The IDM is a worldwide celebration of the beauty and importance of mathematics and its essential role in life. The Ohio State Department of Mathematics will also have have a day full of fun games, challenging puzzles and fascinating crafts celebrating IDM from 10 am. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, at the Mathematics Tower.
