AIA Awards Recognize Hopkins Hall with Top Honors

The recent renovation of Hopkins Hall on Ohio State’s campus is one of two projects to receive top honors from the 2014 AIA (American Institute of Architects) Columbus design awards, according to an announcement in the Columbus Dispatch.

The renovation, by Braun & Steidl Architects, won an honor award from the group for the full-building renovation, which added walls of glass to let in natural light, new studios, open spaces and energy-efficient upgrades.

The other top recognition went to the new John R. Maloney Family Health and Wellness Center, by the DesignGroup. Additionally, the Willow Theatre in Cardiff, Wales, won a merit award for design architect Tim Lai ArchitecT; the sustainable theatre was co-designed by Ohio State’s Brad Steinmetz, associate professor in the Department of Theatre.
