Michael Mercil, associate professor and graduate studies chair in the Department of Art, has produced a film, Covenant, that premeires at the Wexner Center for the Arts at 7 pm on Thursday, February 7. The screening is part of the Wexner Center's Field and Screen Series.

Mercil's film is a reflection on the nature and economy of keeping livestock, and explores the relationship between humans and the animals they grow for food. The project grew from his 2006-2008 endeavor, The Beanfield, where he planted beans in a small plot at the Wexner Center, and his 2008 Virtual Pasture project there, where sheep were viewed on a video screen and the animals visited the plot once a month.

Mercil will introduce the film, which will be followed by a panel discussion.

His film was featured in the Columbus Dispatch February 7.
