Members of the Ohio State Marching Band were a huge hit at the Statehouse during the Ohio House Session on Wednesday, May 7. They were on hand with Director Jon Waters to accept an honor from State Representative Cheryl Grossman (R-Grove City), who presented the group with a resolution recognizing its contributions to the State of Ohio.

Rep. Grossman also honored two music educators, both alumni from the School of Music – George Edge, director of bands at Grove City High School, and Jim Swearingen, professor at Capital University. Both earned their master’s degrees in music education from Ohio State. At the session, the Ohio House designated “Hang On Sloopy” as the official rock song of Ohio.
