Abject Object: Feminism, Art & The Academy Exhibition
Abject Object investigates what it means to be a feminist within the framework of the art world, particularly within the context of higher education. Looking to the past, present and future, this exhibition brings forward relics of politically charged exhibitions held at The Ohio State University in the 1980s, the legacy and ongoing practice of collecting for University Libraries in this area and works made by contemporary artists who are influenced by feminism in both obvious and subtle ways. Abject Object appeals to the viewer to consider visual material through the lens of objectification—and the process of making a defiant act in the face of oppression. Read more event details
