Subverting the Canon: Two and a Half Stories, Alternative Narrations, and Radical Pedagogy in the Mahābharāta
Ujaan Ghosh, assistant professor in the Department of History of Art, will present a talk focusing on an episodic interrogation of the Sarala Dasa’a fifteenth-century Odia Mahābharāta. Sarala self-identified himself as a Śudra-Muni (a saint from the lower caste) who was tasked to re-tell the epic.
