Band members welcome Honor Flight

Members of The Ohio State University Marching and Athletic Bands were on hand to welcome back travelers on the May 9 “Honor Flight” when it returned from Washington D.C. to Port Columbus Airport. The band honored the veterans with patriotic fanfare and Armed Forces service songs. Honor Flight Columbus recognizes and celebrates World War II and Korean War veterans by flying them, at no cost, to Washington, D.C. on a one-day trip to visit memorials and monuments dedicated to their service. Making the May 9 event even more special is the fact that Shelly Graf’s grandfather was one of the Honor Flight passengers; Graf is a former Marching Band drum major and the first female drum major.
