Christine Ballengee Morris Named Interim Director of Barnett Center

Christine Ballengee Morris has been named interim director of the Barnett Center for Integrated Arts and Enterprise, effective Sept. 1. The Barnett Center has undergone some structural changes and is now part of the Department of Arts Administration, Education and Policy (AAEP).

Ballengee Morris said the center will be forming an advisory committee this fall to explore its leadership, structure and patterns of administration. She said she is looking forward to continuing programming that is student-focused and creating an environment at the Barnett Center where ideas, research and scholarship converge.

Ballengee Morris, professor in AAEP, was the founding director of The Multicultural Center at Ohio State, a unit that changed how diversity was defined and represented at the university. She has served as editor for Art Education and several editorial boards, and teaches art education classes that specialize in diversity explorations. She has a new book out, called Transforming our Practices: Indigenous Art, Pedagogies, and Philosophies.
