A Conversation on Civic Engagement

The upcoming conversion to semesters provides an occasion to discuss the commitment to civic engagement and what it can and should mean for higher education--and for the Arts and Sciences at Ohio State, in particular--in the 21st century.

A committee, chaired by Prof. Steven Conn of the Department of History, has been convened to develop recommendations for enhancing civic engagement within the College. On Friday, January 21 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rosa Ailabouni Room at the Ohio Union, third floor, the College will hold an open conversation to explore the issue of civic engagement in the College of Arts and Sciences. The discussion will include conversation about:

  • What opportunities for civic engagement have been created by the new configuration of Arts and Sciences?
  • What needs to happen for those opportunities to be realized?
  • How can we deepen civic awareness and learning among our students?
