Each year, the Department of Economics awards the Edwin Smart Prize in the amount of $250.00 to undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional academic accomplishment and a commitment to pursuing scholarly work in the field of economics.

The 2011 Smart Prize recipients are Andrew Iammarino, Sherrie Kessler, Adam Gay, Guillermo Bervejillo, Dena Lomonosov, Ross Askanazi, and Sean Hicks
