Higgins Memorial Scholarship advances doctoral history student's research
The Ruth L. Higgins Memorial Scholarship Fund
I am a doctoral candidate in the Department of History, and my dissertation focuses on Chinese Muslims’ translation projects during the 20th century. As I research, I am often surprised that despite wars, pandemics and dislocations, there are an incredible amount of people throughout history who continue to believe in the merits of interreligious conversations and intellectual activities.
In the past year, we have experienced one of the most severe global pandemics in recent history. In such a trying time, support for research in humanities is even more precious and critical. I hope that, similar to the scholars who persevered in hardship, my research can one day contribute to understanding cultural diversity in the modern world."
