The College of Arts and Sciences is the academic heart of the university, and a learning lab for interdisciplinary discovery and creativity. With 38 different academic units delivering almost half of all credit hours on Columbus campus, students have access to an incredible variety of learning paths. As we educate global citizens to solve problems in their communities and beyond, the next generation of leaders will be equipped with critical thinking skills and adaptability. 

Here’s a story from one student who illustrates this potential, made possible in part through donor support.

Dear Buckeye Friends and Supporters,

My name is Alexandra Jones, and I’m a senior at The Ohio State University majoring in Chinese with minors in criminology and law and public policy. Receiving this scholarship has been instrumental in supporting my education and has given me the peace of mind to focus wholeheartedly on my academic and professional development. 

This scholarship has not only relieved financial pressures but has affirmed my belief in the power of education to uplift and empower. 

I had the chance to study abroad in Taiwan last summer, which not only enhanced my linguistic abilities but also gave me valuable insights into international relations and global justice, areas that deeply influence my career aspirations. More recently, I studied at Oxford University as part of Ohio State's Pre-Law Study Abroad Program. Immersing myself in comparative legal studies at one of the world’s most prestigious institutions was both challenging and inspiring. I’ve also engaged in meaningful research, community service and interdisciplinary coursework that have broadened my perspective and prepared me to pursue a legal career.
