A Magic Moment, Captured
Sandy Gaunt, adjunct faculty member in Evolution, Ecology and Organimsal Biology, may be retired from her position as curator of the Borror Laboratory of Bioacoustics, but one wouldn't know it. Gaunt still enthusiastically volunteers her time and expertise to the lab and to events at the Museum of Biological Diversity. Gaunt, who has studied birds all over the world and has an impressive list of publications to her credit, is also an artist at heart. Painting and photography consume much of her time. She was thrilled to receive honorable mention for this photo, “I didn’t want to do just another nature shot; this came together for me through patience and serendipity. Luckily, it captured the feeling I was going for."
