The Department of Geography’s Meteorology Club launched Current Weather Display for general use. The department’s weather station is located on the roof of Denny Hall just across 17th Avenue.

Seniors Scott Baker and Eric Evans spearheaded the effort to launch the weather station as part of their coursework in Geography 622.02: Microclimatology Instrumentation project.

The Ohio State Meteorology Club was founded in 1996, when a group of undergraduate meteorology students decided to start a group that would serve not only as a networking tool, but as a social club with students interested in weather. Each year the club hosts the Annual Severe Weather Symposium.

Club meetings are held once a month during Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters, generally in Derby Hall room 1066. Meetings include speakers from TV stations and the National Weather Service (NWS), as well as planning for the symposium in the Spring. Throughout the year club members visit news stations and take a trip down to NWS in Wilmington, Ohio. Other social events such as bowling or meetings at Bw3's areorganized with the members. Free pizza and pop are provided at each meeting.
