Morris Beja, professor emeritus, English, was presented the Lifetime Service Award by the International James Joyce Symposium, Bloomsday at the International James Joyce Symposium.

Beja’s areas of interest include Twentieth-century British and American literature, the novel, Anglo-Irish literature, and film. He is author of James Joyce: A Literary Life; Virginia Woolf: to the Lighthouse; Epiphany in the Modern Novel; Film and Literature; and Joyce, the Artist Manqué, and Indeterminacy, and essays on twentieth-century British, Irish, and American fiction, and on film; editor of a scholarly edition of Virginia Woolf's Mrs.Dalloway, and of the James Joyce Newestlatter, and of books on Orson Welles, James Joyce, Virginia Woolf, Samuel Beckett, and psychological fiction.

Beja is the recipient of Guggenheim and Fulbright fellowships and of The Ohio State University Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching. He chaired the Department of English from 1983 to 1994.
