Top 10 Reasons to See the OSU Opera, Albert Herring

You, at the Opera? Might be a great idea, considering Ohio State’s School of Music is presenting the comic opera Albert Herring May 6 and 8 in Mershon Auditorium. Below are the top 10 reasons guest director A. Scott Parry (at right in photo) thinks you’d enjoy it:

10. Real women like men who like opera.

9. It’s the only time you’ll ever see a herring sing.

8. 1910 England is the place to be. Kind of like Jersey Shore.

7. Culture, darling. It’s culture!

6. It would be totally cool to Tweet “Hanging at the opera.”

5. It’ll make you laugh. Seriously.

4. The costumes are sick!

3. Your mom will be impressed.

2. If you think Snooky can pound ‘em, wait til you see what Albert can do!

1. Frolicking, drinking, debauchery…and sex! What’s not to like?

Parry is pictured with music graduate student Jesse Dardem, who plays the lead role of Albert, a shy greengrocer turned frolicking King of the May Festival. The production will be staged at 8 pm, Friday, May 6, and at 3 pm, Sunday, May 8. For details and ticket information, go to music.osu.edu
