This performance will include solo works featuring sonatas by Beethoven, Chopin and Vicktor Ullman. Ullman, a Silesia-born Austrian and later Czech-Jewish composer and conductor of great promise, was imprisoned by the Nazis in Theresienstadt concentration camp and later gassed at the infamous Auschwitz death camp in 1944. The powerful and emotional Sonata No. 7 was written at Theresienstadt and was his last sonata.For more information, visit the School of Music.
