Opera Theatre, directed by Eric Gibson, is excited to present Engelbert Humperdinck's enchanting opera Hansel and Gretel. This collaborative production also features the Women's Glee Club directed by Jordan Saul, and the Symphony Orchestra conducted by Miriam Burns.
The story, largely centered on food insecurity, tells the tale of a mischievous brother and sister who are sent into the woods by their difficult mother to forage for supper. As night falls, the duo's parents realize their children are out in a forest made infamous by a witch who captures children and bakes them into confectionary delights!
- All performances are free and open to the public. No ticket required.
COME EARLY! Since the opera is based on a classic fairy tale, the School of Music is happy to present pre-show lectures by experts from Ohio State's Department of Classics. Join us 30 minutes before curtain to hear their insights. Doors open 15 minutes prior to each talk.
