Monday, April 13

Preparing for a Virtual Career Fair

Monday, April 13, 9 to 10 a.m.

This session will cover preparation tips that are specific to virtual career fairs as well as provide information about the April 14 virtual career fair for students at the Big10+ universities. There are 60+ employers registered for the HireBigTen+ Virtual Career Fair.

• Calling all Ohio State University undergraduate and graduate students and alumni interested in serving your country at home and abroad through U.S. Department of State career and student programs! Register for the Department of State's Virtual Information Session for Ohio State University students and alumni with the. Department’s North Central Region Diplomat in Residence Lou Fintor. He’ll discuss careers with the U.S. Department of State and how you can serve your country by living and working in any one of more than 270 U.S. embassies, consulates or missions overseas, or in Washington, D.C. and other domestic locations. Career paths include Foreign Service Officer and Civil Service as well as numerous Student Program opportunities including internships, fellowships, and scholarships.

Amazon Virtual Career Fair

• Tuesday, April 14, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. EST
• Amazon is working with The Athlete Book to host a Virtual Career Fair for college seniors. Amazon's consumer division has over 1,000 university hires to make in the next few months. Amazon's team of recruiters from there on live chat, engaging with college seniors, helping them apply, answer questions, and navigate Amazon's recruiting process.

Employer Office Hours: SOCHE Wright-Patterson Air Force Base

• Wednesday, April 15, 9 to 11 a.m.
• Chat with representatives from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base about civilian career opportunities during their Office Hours on April 15th from 9am-11am Eastern Time. SOCHE (Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education) is a non-profit, Department of Defense contractor located in Dayton, Ohio. SOCHE hires students from around the country to be research assistants at The Air Force Institute of Technology and The Air Force Research Labs on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. SOCHE partners interested students with Air Force researchers across the base to enrich their academic experience while furthering the mission of the Air Force. Additionally, SOCHE helps place interns in other jobs around Southwestern Ohio in local governments and businesses. This session will be offered through Zoom. What is Virtual Etiquette?

• Amid the current crisis that the world is facing many companies have transitioned to a Virtual platform to complete conversations and interviews. Are you comfortable with the Virtual method of communication? In this Virtual workshop we will work to identify appropriate etiquette for Virtual conversations with recruiters and employers. Information Session: Mercy Home for Boys and Girls

• Mercy Home for Boys and Girls is a therapeutic residential facility for at-risk youth in Chicago. The home provides young people in its full-time care the tools they need to develop as people, as students, and as contributing members of society. We also assist hundreds more by connecting them to a vast network of accredited professional service-agencies throughout metropolitan Chicago. We partner with our children’s families to promote emotional and psychological healing.

Information Session: Educational Service Center of Central Ohio

• Thursday, April 16, 11 to 12 p.m.
• The ESC of Central Ohio is hiring students and alumni to serve with AmeriCorps in one of three programs, all working to improve student outcomes from grades K-12. For each program, our Members receive extensive training (3 weeks) in September, then serve 30 hours/week at a school from October through the end of the school year. Each program requires 30 hours per week. Members receive a stipend of $800 per month, plus an education award of $3,059 for student loans or tuition.

What To Do If Your Summer Career Plans Have Been Altered or Canceled

• As COVID 19 spreads throughout the U.S., many companies have altered the method in which they perform everyday business operations. As a result of this, your summer 2020 plans may be altered or even canceled. We do not know how long COVID 19 will continue to spread, so we want you to be prepared to know options that you may have. Join us on Thursday, April 16th at 1 pm to chat with a Career Coach about what you can do to continue to build your resume this summer if your internship has been canceled. • Are you a service worker who has recently been displaced? Are you a college student living in the Columbus, OH area taking classes online? Would you like to take part in the healthcare industry's fight versus COVID-19 on behalf of Ohioans in the developmental disability community?  Join the Ohio At Home Healthcare team by supporting and advocating for an at-risk population in your local area. You will have the opportunity give back to those in need during a time in which we should all be coming together. At the same time, you will grow lasting relationships with the inspiring people you serve while building upon your skills as a healthcare provider.

Information Session: I Know I Can

• Friday, April 17, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• We are looking to fill positions for the AmeriCorps: Ohio College Guides hosted by I Know I Can. This is a great position for anyone looking to take a gap year, interested in working in higher education, or for a year of service. The position is a one year service term, through AmeriCorps, that offer a Segal Education award the size of the Pell grant to whoever completes their contract, allowing development opportunities that can be worked into each members own goals.

Getting Comfortable Networking Online

• The impact of COVID-19 has temporarily altered the way we interact with one another despite this the significance of nurturing existing and creating new professional contacts remains the same. During this webinar tips and strategies for successful virtual networking will be shared and we’ll discuss any questions or best practices you have based on your experiences! Information Session: Recreation Unlimited

• Friday, April 17, 1 to 2 p.m.
• Recreation Unlimited- If you are interested in “hands-on” experience, while gaining training and development that will enhance your education, paid positions are available that include room and board. Recreation Unlimited is a place where you will learn from each other and learn from our campers with disabilities. It is a life changing experience, where you can be yourself and feel valued while you help others.

• The Census Bureau is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The U.S. Census Bureau is overseen by the Economics and Statistics Administration (ESA) within the Department of Commerce. The Economics and Statistics Administration provides high-quality economic analysis and fosters the missions of the U.S. Census Bureau and the Bureau of Economic Analysis.
