After years of working as an editor, I finally got around to completing my Bachelor of Science degree in Visual Effects in September of 2011. The FX of the original Star Wars fascinated me as a child and that "bug" stuck with me ever since.
Back in the "old days," I edited video for local sports and community events in my hometown, Youngstown, Ohio. In addition, I began my illustrious (infamous?) film career working in the Art Department on movies such as The Public Eye starring Joe Pesci, Crazy for a Kiss with Bud Cort and Mike McShane, Diary of a Hitman with Forrest Whittaker, Sherilyn Fenn, and Sharon Stone, as well as Double Dragon starring Robert Patrick and Alyssa Milano. (Despite it's 8% splat on Rotten Tomatoes, Double Dragon was a heluva lot of fun to work on!)
I eventually made the decision to make the big move to Los Angeles where I landed a job in the post-production department of Kushner-Locke. At Kushner-Locke, I had an opportunity to teach myself the Avid Film Composer which I enthusiastically did on nights and weekends. My newfound knowledge led to my first post-production credit as an Assistant Music Editor for Kushner-Locke's feature film The Whole Wide World starring Renee Zellweger and Vincent D'Onofrio.
I left Kushner-Locke to enter the editing room full-time as an Assistant Editor and then as an Associate editor on some low budget action flicks such as Against the Law, Stormtrooper, and Vampirella.
During this time, I was brought on to a Warner Bros. film starring Jon Voight called A Dog of Flanders and was shipped off to Belgium and Vancouver for the duration of the film.
After finishing up on Dog, I headed off to Marin County California to work at Industrial Light and Magic on a 3D digital animation research project at the time Star Wars:Phantom Menace was being shot.
When I got back to Los Angeles, I worked on a number of documentary and reality projects for Discovery, Nat Geo, TLC, Animal Planet, History Channel including such shows as Expeditions to the Edge, Fear Factor, Chuck Woolery:Naturally Stoned, and Clean Sweep.
I edit on pretty much any platform including Avid, Premiere, and Final Cut Pro. (I can even edit on a Steenbeck or Moviola upright if asked nicely!)
When not editing, I can be found hiking, camping, drawing, reading, or messing around with making music.
