Certificates

Put your language skills to work and become part of the next generation of interpreters and translators

Open to:

  • any current Ohio State undergraduate student pursuing a major or minor in a world language

The need for interpreters and translators isn’t going away. Globalization and a population surge in non-English-speaking people in the United States is slated to drive employment growth — as much as 19% through 2028, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Through this certificate program, you can specialize in one of three areas: professional translation, literary translation and community interpretation. You’ll be able to apply your skills by working with government agencies, schools, courts and community partners as part of a practicum. And when you complete the program, you’ll be able to serve your community in ways we haven’t done before.

The Translation and Interpretation certificate is administered through the Center for Languages, Literatures and Cultures and is open to current Ohio State undergraduate students pursuing a major or minor in a world language. Please contact Emily Carpenter to declare for the program and schedule courses.
